Christmas Workshops Ho Ho Ho!

Our Christmas Workshops are this Sunday, November 28th, 9 am -9 pm and Friday December 3rd 6 pm- Midnight

Here are a few questions I have been getting emails about-

What if we have bad weather?
These are not a snow and go events. If we have bad weather- we cancel.
Come on gals it is scrapbooking not a hospital emergency room.
So check our blog for any weather related updates. We will post here if for some crazy reason we get more bad storms and we cancel.

Do I need to Sign up for the Workshop?
No. If you purchased project kits you are guaranteed a table space for our Workshop (you get a table spot for your own stuff plus a spot in the class) all of the other table space is on a first come, first served basis.

Will all of our product arrive in time?
All of our product is on the way now for the kits- but . . .
I know how these storms affect deliveries and we have a holiday right in the middle. If some of it doesn't arrive we might have to change things around. If that happens we will work out another time to have the classes.

Can I bring my own snacks?
Sure thing. We have access to a kitchen with a fridge and sink but no microwave. We will be bringing some holiday snacks too.

Can I bring a friend?
Well of course. The more the merrier.

Will you have other project kits for sale?
Yup, we take cash, check and credit cards (you need to be able to access either your paypal account or your email account in order for us to take a credit card- we will have internet access for you to use)

Don't forget we are bringing project samples to sell also. There are some great FINISHED projects and pages.

We hope to see you on Sunday and/or Friday night!

Kerry and Darcie

Snow Days and Scrapbook Projects

The thing about snow is that it is fun

Lots of frolicking around, uncovering frozen toys, and avoiding inside responsibilities like cooking, cleaning, writing project instructions, finishing projects for Christmas Workshops, posting photos on your blog, etc.

Thankfully (ahh see the Thanksgiving tie in) I already had the project and pages done for this week. Here is a preview of a really fast and easy accordion album/table decor/mantle piece that you can do for Thanksgiving. The idea is to put a photo on each of the pullout pieces and/or journal about what you Give Thanks for.

This project is for our Project a Week subscribers and I will be sending out the directions later this morning. (as soon as I write them- he he)

I changed up my plan a bit and next week we will have a year in review mini book. I thought we needed a little Thanksgiving first. To subscribe for a project every week in your email box click HERE.

Our Family Layout- 2 Pages a Week Layout

Here is a preview of our 2 Page Layout for the week.

The page was inspired by the beautiful tree paper, it really had me thinking about Family Trees, so I included a Family Tree quote on the page.

The paper is by Pink Paislee and I used some of my favorite techniques, decorative brads, printing on vellum, ribbon photo corners. If you are a subscriber you not only get the handout to make this layout with color photos and step by step instructions, you also have the opportunity to purchase the layout kit, and a shopping list/source information handout and you can watch the technique video on the Members Only Blog. If you are interested in subscribing to our 2 Pages a Week, click HERE for more information.

Happy Wednesday!
I am a day late with my sneak preview but I have a cool online video to add to my project preview-so I think that excuses me!

This is a re-do of our most popular kit ever, the Clipboard Recipe Book. We love the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird version that we did last year, but I wanted a more colorful version so we used their new Garden Variety collection for this one. Watch the video if you want to see more details about this cool project.

If you are one of our Monthly Subscribers there is a more detailed online video that shows how the pockets are folded for this project. That is available on our Members Only Project Blog. If you are interested in a subscription, click HERE for more information and to sign up.

Time to Organize

Hello Chicks from Kerry
I am feeling pretty good this morning, I spent all Monday organizing and cleaning my office. I had intended to get started with some new scrapbooking projects but felt like my creativity was blocked by all of the CLUTTER. I am by no means a neat freak, but I have a lot of stuff. I find that I spend a lot of time just moving things from one pile to another. Very productive.

So, over the past 1 1/2 years our Scrap Yard Chicks stuff had spread from my scrapbook room and office (former library) to the guest bedroom, dining room, kitchen, living room and at one point before our last event I had the sewing machine in my hall bathroom on the counter.
Too much. So yesterday as I started putting things away from my trip I decided it was time to get organized and into just 2- so shocking- rooms of our house. My husband will be so glad.

Now I need to move the Accucut machine off of my dining room table and upstairs to my scrapbook room and go through the "sorting" pile of project bags. My scrapbook room is far from being organized, but at least I have a nice open space in the middle of my office for my dogs to hang out and I can actually use my treadmill again- no packing supplies stacked on it. I'll post some photos once I get everything finished. I also have project samples all over the guest room bed. We have plans for those and will be having a sample sale on Sunday November 28th at our Christmas Drop In Workshop.

Now- on to more important things like PROJECTS!!!!!! I promise that I will post photos of 2 different projects later today, a recipe book and a desk top calendar. If you are subscribed to our weekly projects you will get the directions for these fun projects in your email box tomorrow. We will also have a few kits for sale.

Okay, enough for now. I need to do less writing and more creating today!

Good Morning From Sunny Idaho

Good Morning Chicks

This is Kerry. Well, I have been on the road for 2 weeks now, the beginning of the trip was at my parents house in the Tri Cities Washington and then on to Boise to help my sister celebrate her birthday with some serious scrapbooking and scrapbook shopping.

Okay, so we have been to Craft Warehouse, Hobby Lobby (brand new store), Archivers and a local scrapbook store called Paper Cottage. Plus other trips to Red Robin, Qdoba, Walmart (like 4 times) etc.

I was scouting out projects and supplies for our Christmas Drop In Workshop plus our Project A Week projects and 2 Pages a Week, plus our Winter Workshop Weekend. I think Darcie and I will have some awesome stuff to bring your way. But, I have to say the inspiration as far as project samples, page ideas, etc was seriously lacking. Western Washington has soooooo much more to offer at their local stores we are very lucky to have all of those wonderful scrapbook stores.

When I am home in my own scrapbook room, at my own desk tomorrow morning I will post some sneak previews of the projects for our Christmas Workshops.

Here is a bit of a rundown of our plans

Sunday November 28th -We haven't fixed the times just yet but these classes will be late morning through afternoon, nothing in the evening

Christmas Configurations Shadowbox featuring Tim Holtz new Configurations Shadowbox and My Minds Eye Holly Jolly

Advent (Countdown to Christmas) Pocket Garland feauturing 24 handmade and some handstiched pockets with the Echo Park Paper Co Everybody Loves Christmas

Plus a Scrap Yard Chicks Sample Sale- oh we have a lot of pages, projects and other goodies all ready for you to give for gifts or maybe for your self!

Friday December 3rd-We haven't set the exact time, but this will be in the evening

10 Pages of Christmas- Ten 12 x 12 Layouts pefect to just add your newest (or old) Christmas photos. Featuring Jovial by Basic Grey. We will also have these kits available on Sunday Nov 28th if you are not able to come for the Friday night class.

Okay, enough for now. We need to get all of our stuff packed up and on the road. It is a long trip back to Sammamish today. I actually FINISHED putting photos in a mini book for my much neglected husband. He is going to be so shocked.
