4 Words Photo Display

Hi Chicks
We are showing off another of our projects for our Wild About Creating Workshop Weekend on February 26th and 27th. There are still a few days left to register- if you interested in coming. We are closing the registration on Thursday February 17th.

We are getting so excited as all of our orders are arriving, we are busy making kits, writing our directions and finishing up all of the last minute details.
For our 4 Words Display we wanted to do a project that incorporated a lot of the inking techniques we have learned, and using multiple surfaces. We used sticky back canvas, textured cardstock, acrylic, ribbon, tissue tape, chipboard and so many more fun little goodies!

I used red and turquoise for the sample, but we will have an assortment of different colors for our workshopees (hmm don't know if that is a real word) to try out.

The base for this is a wonderful vintage styled receipt holder by 7 Gypsies. They are just the coolest company.
So enjoy the photos. I am skipping tomorrow since we have a weekly project to show off, but we will be back on Thursday with another sneak preview!

Sneak Preview- Wild About Creating Project

Happy Valentines to our Chick Friends!

We are really LOVING this project from our guest instructor Adrienne Guitron for our Wild About Creating Winter Workshop Weekend.

The book is an 8x8 chipboard binder and pages from Maya Road with Pink Paislee Old School paper and stickers, Basic Grey letters, LOTS of great Tim Holtz embellishments, tags, paint, ink etc. all put together in this inspirational and unique book to document what "He Is" in your life.
Don't have a "He" that is scrapbook worthy? Thats okay, we also will have this project done in a beautiful "She Is" version with the Pink Paislee Sweetness collection (pictures to come soon).
We feel so lucky to have Adrienne teaching for us this winter. She has been a friend to Darcie and I for a long time, and we are big fans of her scrapbooking style (and awesome scrapbooking room), adorable son and talented husband.
We will have some kits of her incredible project available for sale online in our kit shop after our event.
But- if you don't want to wait, we are opening up our Wild About Creating Workshop to the public for shopping on Sunday February 27th 3- 6 pm. We will have all of our leftover workshop kits available for purchase as well as our other page and project kits.
Stop in and check out the fun!

Layout Preview for Feb 10, 2011

This week for our 2 Pages a Week subscribers I made this super cute and fun spring page- can you tell that I am enjoying all of this fantastic sunshine!

Even though this is a Spring themed layout- I used just 2 pieces of patterned paper-an easy peasy one to change around.

If you are interested in subscribing to our 2 Pages a Week, or our Project a Week, visit our Subscription page.
Did you know that if you had signed up for our 2 Pages a Week subscription when we started in November you would have 30 pages scrapbooked by now? Wow- and if you are using paper from your stash you would have room now to go out and buy all of the new stuff that is just hitting the shelves.
Food for scrapbooking thought!
:) Kerry

Weekly Project Preview- Hanging Photo Display

This week our project for our subscribers of the "Project a Week" is a hanging photo display- a perfect little project to make for someone as a Valentine's gift.

The top and bottom panels are mini clipboards and the middle panel is a chipboard piece with a ribbon treatment to keep your photos secure.

The idea for this display is to be able to easily change the photos you have on display.

We also included a tutorial to create the dimensional rose that is on the clip portion of the clipboard.

To get a project like this every Wednesday, become a Scrap Yard Chicks Subscriber. The cost is $12.99 a month. Visit our Subscribers Page for more details.

Fun & Easy Valentine Project- Paper Folded Heart Garland

Hi Chicks!
Scrap Yard Chicks wanted to bring you a couple of cute, quick and easy Valentine projects this week.
This Folded Paper Heart Garland, is a great project, and it is fun, inexpensive and easy.

You need a 4x12 piece of double sided cardstock weight paper. Cut it into 1x12 strips.

Cut two strips into 4" and 8" lengths
Cut two strips into 6" lengths.

Arrange strips, lining them up along the bottoms and all the pattern facing the same way

8", 6", 4", 6 "

then add 4", 6", 8" with the pattern going the opposite way.
Glue or staple bottoms together.

Start on the left side, line up the tops of the 8", 6" and 4" strips, staple together

Repeat for the right side- there will be a 6" strip in the center that is loose.

Fold under the tops of the strips and curve them slightly into a heart shape. Use glue dots or liquid glue to attach them to the center strip (1x6" piece). Repeat for the other side.

Fold over about 1" on the top of the 1x6" center strip and punch a hole. Thread hearts onto ribbon and have a Happy Valentines Day!
