Jenni Bowlin demonstrates her rub ons, ink and new chipboard shapes

We just loved Jenni Bowlin- she was demonstrating all of her inking and painting projects with Ranger. The video shows her demonstrating how to use her rub ons as a resist technique on her chipboard shapes. She also showed us how to use her Malted Milk ink to "vintage up" her white journaling pieces. The colors are spot on vintage.

Tales from a busy scrapbook table

Hello Chick Friends

Oh my - we have been so busy and the creativity, diet coke and guacamole have been flowing all around us. I took a picture of our work table on Sunday morning after we had worked all day Saturday and I had to share it.

Let me desconstruct.

On the right side of the table is the Canvas 3 Ring Binder project by Pink Paislee that has 20 yes- 20 sheet protectors of various sizes. So much space for photos, journaling, mementos, etc in this project. A bit daunting to get started but it is really looking awesome. Darcie is working on this with the Happy Together line by Fancy Pants.
On the left side of the table- okay and on the end too is Kerry's project- the Vintage Receipt Holder. It looks like a science experiment with all of the different bottles of ink down on the end of the table, we are using alcohol ink, distress ink, heat embossing, ultra thick embossing enamel (UTEE), and more with this project. We wanted to create a truly custom project for each person, you can choose the colors you like. Actually we did the entire project with blue and green and then decided to re do it for the sample in blue and red for some color variety. We also have purple- which is GORGEOUS! We have been having so much fun trying out new techniques like making pressed glass charms, custom dying ribbon, creating border masks, and then some really really bad techniques.
5 things we learned:

1- Don't try and heat set (with a heat gun) Glossy Accents onto inked chipboard. Although we did enjoy watching it create a huge plastic bubble that sort of wrinkled down into a gloppy mess, we definitely won't be using that as a technique.

2- Don't overfill a charm frame with UTEE or you will have a kind of bubbly globby wierd looking piece that reminds me of something from Harry Potter.
3- If you get out latex gloves to wear when you are working with ink it is probably best to actually put them on, otherwise you will have blue/red/purple/green fingers for many many days.

4- Pink tinted embossing ink is a great idea so you can see where you stamp, but when you stamp on white and use clear embossing powder it pretty much stays pink. Which is good if you like pink, not so good otherwise.
5- glitter is good but so so so so messy, and we hope not hazardous to digest since it seemed to get in everything including brownies, chips, guacamole, etc. (okay not related to this project but still good to know)

We will post another project sneak peek tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!

Sneaky Sneaky Peeky Peeky

Okay, maybe too many cups of coffee this morning. But I am SOOOOO EXCITED to be sharing sneak peeks for our

Darcie and I decided that we need to do a theme for winter- and we LOVE Zebra stripes, (Hmmm have you seen the zebra stripe Dansko shoes? Fabulous) so we thought we would get a little wild! It makes for a lot of fun as we plan goodie bags, decorations, name tags, etc. No, we are not doing all animal print projects.

All right enough with the blah blah blah already. Here is a sneak peek of one of the big projects we have for our weekend.

Our first sneak peek is a 6x12 Travel Themed Album designed by Kerry. So many cool cool pockets, tags, file folders, transparencies, etc. with this album. The collection is by Teresa Collins and she does these wonderful sheets of punch out pieces that are -pre scored- they fold like butter. This album is the perfect showcase for your favorite trip photos- even Disney would look great with the Red/White/Blue and Black color scheme. There is a ton of room for photos, journaling, mementos and more in this wonderful album.

Thats all for today- hmmmm. Check back tomorrow to see what else we have coming your way!

What a Great Way to Start Off a New Year!

Hi Scrapping Chick Friends and Happy New Year! This is such a great way to start off 2011.

This morning I had such a great surprise when I logged into my favorite Scrapbooking site 2 Peas in a Bucket

The Chicks are #1- Woot Woot!

I posted one of our 2 Page a Week Layouts yesterday (the first one shown in the red/black and tan) and it was in their gallery as
#1 Favorite by Views
#1 Favorite by Bookmarks
#1 Favorite by "Likes"

Here is the link to the layout in their gallery- The site is one of my favorites and it is such a fantastic resource for paper fans like us, plus they have great message boards if you ever have a problem you are trying to work out, question about products, etc.

Plus our Seahawks won yesterday! I am not going to go so far as to say that it was because Darcie and I rooted for them while we scrapbooked- but it has happened before - and we know they haven't won too many games this year- so I think we definitely brought them good Scrap Yard Chick vibes!

If you sent us email over the Christmas break I was worse than normal at responding. Sorry- I promise to get back to work this week and get everything rolling for our February Workshop, we have some new subscribers this week for our Project a Week and 2 Pages and Week and we have a FREE CROP NEXT WEEKEND.

So much fun, so much to look forward to in a brand new year! Darcie and I are so grateful for the wonderful friends that we have through Scrap Yard Chicks- we thank you all for a super 2010- and are looking forward to an even better 2011!
